Tuesday 23rd December - walks *** – Around Felixstowe – cloudy with a chilly wind from the NE.

We are having a few days of winds from the east to North East but way too cold for me to consider windsurf these days with my dodgy hands! So I did my exercises instead then Mag and I decided to walk up the town to see the Christmas activities, there was music playing on the Triangle with people busy charcoaling marshmallows over a lovely warm log fire:) We spotted a Santa on stilts and we continued up to Great Eastern Square to watch the free skating, not much skating just sliding around the fence with lots of falling over but they seemed to be having fun, looked like a recipe for a hospital visit to us:) There was also a couple of rides for kids and these bouncy rope things that looked like fun, there was loads of people queuing to enjoy the fun which was a big success! We then walked the length of the town which was also busy with people doing last minute shopping! We came out on the cliff top view point above the pier just in time to see a big green container ship slowly head in with the help of a couple of tugs, we later learnt that it was the maiden voyage of the Ever Eco which was full of green containers and the tugs gave it a water canon welcome !
Home for the last of the homemade soup before walking round to our old friend Mary who was celebrating her 86th Birthday and enjoyed a cuppa with sausage rolls and cake, nice afternoon before walking home in the dark with music still playing on the triangle!
I was surprised when the lovely Chris Page used a pic of last years Christmas Day dip in the sea at Felixstowe on his forecast warning that conditions are going to be very different this year with a fresh cold easterly with a rough sea, I would not be surprised to see this year cancelled????
